My thanks to both Adrian at Hornby and Maurizio from for their help and trust in sending out a raw prototype for evaluation. In terms of outright performance it's not quite up there with the likes of OSC Pug 205T16, but it's getting very close.
This combination of PCR chassis and Scalextric body could lead to some fantastic project in the future. There are some very simple things that the in-house designers and developers at Scalextric can learn from this chassis and I hope that future Scalextric releases will learn from this and improvements will be made on their general releases. Maurizio's concerns about the handmade belt proved unfounded and the car performed perfectly thought out the test.Īll in all a superb development and one which I hope both Scalextric and will continue and develop for all its cars.
Interestingly the PCR chassis forms part of the front of the body work on this model - I'm not sure how the decoration will work with different materials being used for body and chassis or if this will be left to the modeller to finish? It also raises the question regarding body rock - the PCR chassis has been made to allow a clear gap around the body work, but this will prove a problem if the chassis touches the bodywork at the front of the car.
